About Zichron Dovid of Pomona

Rabbi and Mrs. Jerry Berkowitz have dedicated a permanent name that will I”YH give us a permanent structure.  Effective immediately, the Shul will now be named after their son Danny (Dovid) and Jerry’s Father, also Dovid.  Having the Shul named after the Rebbetzin’s Grandfather and Brother even more solidifies the close bond the Rabbi and Rebbetzin have with the Shul.

Despite being highly educated, Jerry's father דוד בן שמואל זאב ע"הDavid could not find a job that did not require working on Shabbos, so he chose to become a kosher butcher alongside his father in Plainfield, N.J. He was always very generous and gave more than the scale showed.  David cherished his wife, sons and daughters, and worked very hard to provide for them. His greatest pleasures were saying Tehilim, davening, going to Shul and endlessly listening to recordings of great chazanim. He will always be remembered for his kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity.

דוד אברהם נתנאל בן רב יעקב יוסיף צבי ע"ה, known to all as Danny, was a tall man with a huge heart, musical ear and beautiful voice. He went to Yeshiva, after which he spent time learning in Eretz Yisroel, was a member of chevra hatzoloh and inspired many, not only with his davening as a shaliach tzibbur, but through his music albums as a member of Eli Gerstner's Menucha. His spare time was spent saying tehillim, learning machshava seforim, and doing non-stop chesed for others, be it through his money, or by lending out even his most prized possessions. He was incredibly personable and had friends that loved him throughout the four corners of the world.  Danny touched so many lives with his kindness, caring and generous nature.

May all of the tefillos, learning and mitzvos done in the Shul be a continued source of aliyah for their neshamos.
